Celtic Engagement
Rings
Celtic engagement rings are growing more and more
popular among the younger generation, especially
those with Irish blood in them.
When speaking of Celtic
designs, the most popular has to be
the knotwork and the Claddagh. They are both traditional
designs that's been used in Celtic culture for
a long time. The knotwork is most popular in band
form, but it's also possible to find a beautifully
crafted diamond
ring decorated with Celtic knots.
The other popular form of bridal jewelry from
the Celts is the Claddagh. This design contain
two hands holding a heart. A crown is set on top
of the heart for loyalty and fidelity, the heart
symbolizes love, while the hands represent friendship.

| Traditionally, the claddagh
ring worn on the left hand have different meanings
than the right. When worn on a right hand with the
heart pointing outwards, it means the wearer is
single and available. When the heart points inwards,
it implies that there is a lover. On the left hand,
the heart pointing outwards is an engagement ring,
then the ring is turned around during a wedding
ceremony to symbolize final devotion. |
